Responsibilities
- Conducting research and analyzing data related to development challenges (e.g., poverty, food security, climate change)
- Assisting with program design, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation
- Developing communication materials and reports for stakeholders
- Supporting partner engagement and outreach activities
- Contributing to policy analysis and recommendations
- Participating in field visits and interacting with local communities (in some cases)
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an accredited graduate program in a relevant field (e.g., international relations, public policy, economics, global health, agriculture)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 (exceptions may be considered)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Demonstrated interest in international development and USAID's mission
- Commitment to cultural sensitivity and understanding different perspectives
Experience
- Previous internship or research experience in international development preferred (not required)
- Proficiency in relevant software and data analysis tools (e.g., R, STATA) a plus
- Experience with foreign languages relevant to the internship placement is beneficial
- Prior travel experience, especially to developing countries, is valued
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in English and potentially other languages
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new things in a fast-paced environment
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of global issues
- Proficient in using technology and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, communication platforms)
