Description
The Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) Internship Program offers a dynamic opportunity for highly motivated individuals to gain valuable experience in the exciting world of short-line railroad operations. Intern alongside industry professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the railroad industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist with various tasks within different departments, such as:
- Operations: Supporting with data entry, train tracking, and logistical coordination.
- Engineering: Assisting with drafting reports, conducting research, and contributing to project management.
- Marketing and Communications: Helping with content creation, social media management, or event planning (depending on placement).
- Other departments: Specific duties may vary based on the internship placement.
- Participate in research projects and contribute to data analysis relevant to railroad operations.
- Gain exposure to different facets of the railroad industry, understanding the complexities and importance of rail transportation.
- Attend professional development workshops and seminars to enhance your skillset.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in a field related to engineering, business administration, logistics, or a related field.
- Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (preferred).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience
- Prior volunteer or internship experience in a logistics, transportation, or related field is a plus.
