The FJIOP provides undergraduate and graduate students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the federal court system. Interns work alongside judges, magistrates, and court staff across various administrative and legal functions. Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and write memoranda on assigned topics.
  • Assist with case management and administrative tasks.
  • Attend court proceedings and observe oral arguments.
  • Draft legal documents and prepare correspondence.
  • Participate in educational workshops and seminars.
  • Contribute to specific projects under the supervision of a judge or court staff member.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Strong academic record and demonstrated research and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of the federal court system and legal processes is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience
  • Prior research experience in a legal or related field is preferred.
  • Experience with legal writing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools is required.
