Description
As a DOI graduate intern, you'll be placed in a specific program area based on your interests and qualifications. You'll collaborate with dedicated professionals on projects related to:
- Land Management: Assist with conservation efforts, wildlife management, fire management, and recreation on public lands.
- Water Resources: Support water management, dam operations, drought mitigation, and water quality initiatives.
- Energy & Minerals: Analyze energy development proposals, participate in mineral resource management, and ensure environmental compliance.
- Cultural Resources: Contribute to the preservation and protection of historical sites, sacred lands, and cultural artifacts.
- Policy & Regulation: Help develop and analyze policies, conduct research, and engage with stakeholders on critical issues.
Responsibilities
- Assist with assigned projects under the guidance of experienced mentors.
- Conduct research, collect data, and prepare reports relevant to your program area.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and field trips.
- Contribute to maintaining a professional and collaborative work environment.
- Specific tasks will vary depending on the chosen program and location.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program in environmental science, public policy, engineering, natural resources, social sciences, or related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with additional software skills preferred depending on the program.
- U.S. citizenship or valid work authorization required.
Experience
- Prior internship or relevant work experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience in your field of study or a related field is a plus.
- Strong academic performance demonstrates your ability to excel in the internship.
