Description
DCF (Department of Children and Families) is offering unpaid internship opportunities for motivated individuals interested in gaining valuable experience in the field of social work and child welfare. Responsibilities
- Assist caseworkers and supervisors in conducting home visits, assessments, and case management tasks.
- Participate in team meetings, court hearings, and other case-related activities.
- Conduct research and analysis to support program development and policy initiatives.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, and document preparation.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather feedback and assess service needs.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to child welfare practice.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous experience working or volunteering in social services or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate attitude toward working with children and families in need.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Empathy and cultural competence when working with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
