The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Internship Program offers motivated individuals the opportunity to contribute to the important work of informing Congress on public policy issues. Interns work alongside CRS researchers and analysts, gaining valuable experience in research, writing, and analysis related to a wide range of legislative topics. Responsibilities
- Conduct research on assigned topics, gathering and analyzing information from a variety of sources.
- Draft and revise written materials, including reports, memoranda, and briefing papers.
- Assist CRS researchers with ongoing projects and special assignments.
- Attend briefings, seminars, and other professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited program.
- Strong academic record and demonstrated research and writing skills.
- Knowledge of public policy issues and the legislative process is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Experience
- Prior research experience in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience with writing research papers, reports, or other analytical documents is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research tools is required.
